The Center for Career Education is in the first place built for several missions. All of their missions are centered to helping the undergraduate and graduate students, including the alumni in knowing exactly about the relationship between what they do at the Columbia University and the life after graduation. They also aim to help their students develop the career competencies needed in the environment that is beyond the classroom knowledge, as well as to teach people to understand what lies ahead and beyond the global market and today’s new economy. All of these are given to the students to let them know the effect of all the existing forces in the global market to the workplace and to the lives and careers of the individuals.
It is further worth noting that the Center for Career Education was established to make the people aware about the right decisions to make in their own career and life, to help them find career opportunities that meet their specific needs, and for them to make a big difference in the world through the roles they play in the working industry.
The Center for Career Education is now composed of different departments that make the institution complete. There are actually six departments maintained by the Center for Career Education and these include the undergraduate career development, graduate student career development, experiential education, employer and alumni relations, alumni career development, and planning and administration. Each of these departments has its own rules, requirements and standards, but all are formed to support the institution as a whole.
